NOTE: There is a splice between the two source 16: acetates, near the very end of “This Time It’s Real,” that is barely noticeable in this transfer. Incomplete privately-recorded acetates of “This Time It’s Real” and “Darling Nellie Gary” showed little evidence of Goodman as clarinetist, and the assumption was he did not participate in those renditions. The complete transcriptions here prove that he did.

NOTE: A 60-second interval of blank tape precedes the next transfer, in order to accommodate the possible future acquisition of the introductory announcement and the beginning of “Let’s Dance,” missing from the cassette supplied to me by Reynolds.

NOTE: A number of ”skips and repeats” mar “Canadian Capers,” especially in the rendition beginning. It would take a good deal of editing to eliminate them, if it were possible to do so, for there may be a few notes or a short passage completely missing. There are also some “skips and repeats” in the closing announcement (these do not interfere with any music), and together with those in “Canadian Capers,” they account for the apparent excessive running length in this transfer. Appended hereto is a transfer for a privately-recorded acetate of “Canadian Caper.” Fortunately, its intro is unmarred; unfortunately, the acetate used did not have sufficient space to accommodate the complete performance, and it is incomplete. I have spliced the ending of the Reynolds acetate to the privately-recorded acetate to complete the performance. The splice is detectable, but not overly-objectionable:
SPLICE: Privately-recorded acetate (incomplete) / Reynolds acetate
1:30:19: Canadian Capers - QUARTET
NOTE, too that Benny announces the locale as the, “Forum Auditorium,” whereas
a Canadian correspondent identifies it as the “Forum Arena.”
