Word problems with addition and subtraction, Stephanie's group, Clip 5 of 9: Revisiting the first four problems [video]. Retrieved from https://doi.org/doi:10.7282/T30R9MB1
DescriptionIn the fifth of nine clips in a first grade classroom, four children: Stephanie, Gerardo, Sean and Aaron, revisit their solutions to the first four problems of a set of six word problems involving addition and subtraction. Refer to the first four clips of the series for their initial work. Stephanie reads each problem in turn and the children, primarily Gerardo and Stephanie, reconstruct their physical models to check their earlier answers. In several cases, they express uncertainty and change their answers. Researcher Alice Alston asks them to explain or show how they found their answers, and to agree about the specific numerical answer for each problem.
